Natillas


Ingredients:

 4 cups milk

 ½-teaspoon salt

 2 teaspoons vanilla

 1/3 cup flour

 1-cup sugar

 4 eggs, separated

 Ground cinnamon

  

Directions:

 In a medium sized saucepan, warm milk.  In separate bowl beat egg yolks, add sugar, flour and salt.  Temper (mix in small amounts to warm the egg mixture, but not cook the eggs) mixture with about 1/2 to 1 c of warm milk.  Add mixture to saucepan and heat until boils and thickens, about 5-7 minutes.  Add vanilla, and remove from heat.  In large bowl beat egg whites until stiff, fold egg whites into mixture.  Sprinkle top with cinnamon.  Place in fridge, and let cool for at least 2 hours.  Serve this desert cold. 

 

Notes:

 I used almond milk, and I don’t think it set up as well as I would have liked.  If you try this recipe, please tag me on Instagram!
